Admin Q&A

A page where we will post answers to any questions we receive from Submissions or from the Tumblr

Why did you create this site?

We're both (the site admin and the tumblr admin) just a bit too young to have been around for the old fansites (AO3 kicked-off the year the site admin discovered fanfiction). But we both love looking through old fansites on the wayback machine. We wished we'd been around for fic contests, curated recs lists and such and yeah, we thought it would be really cool to try a 2022 version of that kind of fansite. AO3 is great as an archive, but it's hard to do curated recs lists there - collections and bookmarks are hard to sort through unless you're actively looking for them. Site admin also learns by doing and so creating a fansite was a project they really wanted to try out to learn more about the tools you need to run a website.

We also really wanted to do something to celebrate all the amazing creators and readers/viewers who have kept the JC fandom going for over 25 years. We'd never have found it and fallen in love with it without all of them. This site is something fun for us, and we're really psyched to see that other people like it too.

Why are you "anonymous?"

We thought it would be better to maintain a site-only identity for this project, mainly because: we didn't want anyone to feel pressured to engage with it just because their friends were running it. We wanted folks to enjoy the site on its merits. Or ignore it if they didn't enjoy it. Simple as that.

Do you collect email addresses?

Only the fic review / question / suggestion submissions form is set to save email addresses - mainly because it accepts site suggestions/questions and fic review requests where we might need to respond or (for fic reviews) be able to know if someone other than the author is requesting. Nominations, fic rec submissions, and voting are completely anonymous. For those forms you do need an email to submit, but, as stated on the google form, the email addresses are not retained for us to see.

What if I don't want to be featured on this site?

That's fine. Engaging with our site is optional. We maintain a list of authors who have expressed a wish not to be featured. You can easily contact us via submission or tumblr if you see your fic has been recommended and want it to be removed. We ask permission before doing a fic review and, as of June 2022, we will also ask permission to feature the fics you nominate for the monthly contest.
